lightbox effect not working on [gallery] in posts

The lightbox effect happening on this demo page is the desired intention:

I create a new post,
assign the “Gallery” format
upload images, and
add in the [gallery] shortcode

I gett the gallery onscreen in the post, however the images don’t go into lightbox modules, instead wordpress opens a new page — like default [gallery] setting responsiveness.

Any thoughts on what is causing this, or am I doing it wrong? And is this possible in pages, too?
