I’m trying to set up a working portfolio site and am running into trouble. Basically, I want to set up a portfolio/blog site in which posts go to the separate categories or show up on separate pages. I figured out a couple of ways to do this, but here’s the problem:
1.) When I just set the menu to display separate categories, the portfolio posts with images show up as a thumbnail with excerpt but the text-only posts show just the title without an excerpt. I want to see an excerpt for text-only posts, but I can’t figure out how.
2.) When I set separate categories as “Blog” and “Portfolio” in Theme Options, the entries show up where I want them to, but this time the blog posts excerpt just fine and the posts with images display the title only. I’d prefer to make this option work, but I don’t know where to go to make the images show up.
Why is this happening? I’m new to PHP, but I’m willing to mess with the code if someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve tried modifying some of the workarounds that have been offered for Twentyeleven, but they haven’t worked out so far. Any help would be much appreciated!
