copy the navigation menu

Hi all,
I’m trying to copy the navigation menu “as is” to the footer. The idea is to just have this same basic full width black bar with my menu at the bottom of every page, as well as at the top.
Somehow I can’t do it. If I put the menu in the footer, it’s boxed in in one column width. Any ideas?
