My site: http://www.cityeyesphoto.com
I’m sorry if this has been discussed before, but I did a quick search and didn’t find anything specific.
The problem I’m having is that with all new images that I upload to my photoblog, on the “full-width” template, I’m given images that are of lower resolution than should be displayed in the default “main page” view.
What should be something like 960 on the largest side is displayed as 750 for the largest side.
The odd thing is that this isn’t a problem with images that I had uploaded to my site before switching my template over to Pinboard, so it seems to have something to do with the default upload sizes of the template.
Second problem, and this is probably just simple and me being an idiot, but is there a way to make images on the front page link to their respective blog posts?
Right now it’s opening the “full size” image in a popout box, but I’d like it to go to the individual page for people to comment on if possible. Is there a way to do this that I’m overlooking?
Thanks so much ahead of time!
markdjParticipantI’m also having this issue at Princess Owners Club The full size image isn’t used when the post is full width.
Any help would be greatly received.
cityeyesParticipantAny luck figuring this out? Still seeing the problem when I switch to full width, so I’ve switched to limited for the time being.
brydangerParticipantim having a similar issue, but my feature image for the featured post at the top of the main page now gets resized to 1/4 of the screen with text beside it rather than taking the entire width with text/title above as it did before the update.
brydangerParticipantI think whats happening here is that the featured image “format” doesnt recognize standard anymore.
even if standard is selected (which it is by default) it actually displays as aside, with the title info to the left and a smaller image to the right.
cityeyesParticipantExcitedly installed the update only to find that this issue hadn’t been addressed. Anyone have luck on a quick fix? Are there any plans to fix this behavior? My site would look *so* much better at full width, but I’m stuck wasting space on both sides because it’s too much extra work to re-upload every single photo.
cityeyesParticipantA bit more info – and oddly another bug. The messed-up image size happens in all browsers, but Firefox isn’t displaying the full width properly – the box stays the same size and the image is cut off on the right.
Secondary (and unrelated) question – is there any way to make clicking on the image take a user to the full-size/comment page instead of the individual image file?
cityeyesParticipant“Fixed” it – mostly.
Thanks to the tip on http://www.reiss.cc.
Under theme layout, choose “no sidebars”.
Under custom CSS, copy and paste this:
.page-template-template-no-sidebars-php #wrapper,
.page-template-template-blog-no-sidebars-php #wrapper,
.page-template-template-portfolio-no-sidebars-php #wrapper {max-width:1000px;}The “max width” can be put to whatever size you’d like. I kept it at 1000 and Pinboard is properly putting in my full-size images.
Bonus addition – it’s also working properly with Firefox, unlike the “full-width” option!
cityeyesParticipantAfter a year and a bunch of random tinkering, I’ve finally figured it out!
In functions.php under the theme folder, change the “add_image_size” sizes for thumbnails from 700 to whatever you’d like the sizes to be. I changed mine to 950, which is the max size of the images I upload, and they’re displaying in full how I’d like them to display even with my custom css.
So nice to finally have this fixed and not just rigged!
AkikoParticipantHi in case anybody else is having this problem too. I’ve resolved this by using AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild plugin.
I’m not sure what is the default setting since I’ve done too much trial and error, but anyway, in Theme Options – General, my ‘Post Thumbnail’ (Hard crop post thumbnails) option is unchecked.
After installing AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild you’ll have to go to every single single post and remove and reinsert the featured image. After choosing the image and before clicking ‘Set Featured Image’, click ‘Rebuild Thumbnail’ just above the set button. Quite a chore, but at least I’ve sorted them out. Fortunately it’s not necessary to do this rebuild thumbnail step for new posts.
