Custom post types and images on homepage

I am using Pinboard for a site featuring primarily recipes and I am using a plugin that creates recipes under the custom post type “recipe”. I have figured out how to get posts of the custom type to display on the homepage, but it only displays the post title, not the featured image. How can I get the homepage to display custom-type posts WITH their corresponding featured images?
