when you are editing your post, in the bottom-right corner (underneath categories and tags) you can set a featured image, to be chosen from your media library.

For me this is important because instead of post, it’s pages what I display in the initial slider. In order to add a featured image, the solution used is, changing of theme, adding the featured image, and then, changing back to minimatica.

The loop-slider.php is querying posts…so you would have to change all of that to fetch pages instead. Not even sure where you would start with that. I’m interested, just out of curiosity, if someone has done it and can post the code.
