Link to category

I was wondering if it was posible to link the slider whit image to a category?

I have on my website 200 blog post and 55 categorys. So im looking for a good way to filter them whit a menu structure.
1. projects, somting about me, portfolio, contact
2. Wood project, metal project, platic project
3. Wood boat, wood furniture, wood other things
4. Blog post

Is that possible or do i have to make a template? How do i start?
