initially it worked fine so i’m incredibly confused as to why this is happening. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that did nothing. help me please.

It should read:

I believe it was a bug in an older theme version. Have you tried updating to the latest version?
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling. It came right from the WordPress site, I assume anything there would be completely updated. Am I wrong?
I noticed the background problem only happens on the main/landing page – not when I click any of the other pages. Once I click a page I get the background I uploaded, so if that helps narrow it down.
