It seems that different sized and oriented post images produce diferent sized slider images. All of the images on my site were *not* uploaded in the Pinboard theme.
On my site (http://adventuredog.paullawleyjon.es/), a 1200×800 (landscape) image produces a narrow (in the y axis) slider image (which is what I want – e.g. Boracay sunset II, Sunset sail, etc), but an 800×533 image produces a wider slider image (e.g. Bakong evening), which doesn’t look good when the whole page shifts down. An 800×1200 (portrait) image produces the wide image again (e.g. Lanterns at Seokguram).
Additionally, in the posts section below, an 800×1200 image in the post produces a very cropped (in the y axis) featured image (e.g. Lanterns at Seokguram), but a 1200×800 image shows the full image scaled (e.g. Boracay sunset II).
In post options I have “Hard crop post thumbnails” selected.
I would like to know what is going on, what I am doing wrong, and what was coded to be the default size for the slider images.

It’s just simpler for me to make sure that all the slider images are 1200×800 landscape.
This theme is a nice idea, but there’s just too much that doesn’t work right. Moving on …
