I know there are several posts about this, but most are left unanswered since Alexander’s blog link he provided no longer works. How can you customize the header size?
kandrsonParticipantWell I was having some problems with it and I quit trying..and then today I went ahead and uploaded one that wasn’t the correct size and it seems to be working fine. If you skip the cropping step it worked for me. It does appear stretched on the preview after upload, but going to the site it looks fine.
my site is: http://www.filthymuggle.com
jandupamuParticipantBut you’re just lucky. Your picture is a weird size and you actually want the facebook, twitter and search signs, I don’t want them and I only want a 728×90 banner, so it goes nuts and leaves me a default search bar that just won’t go and eats up a huge part of space between the banner and the menu.
I could go about editing the header.php, guessing what line springs up this issue, but from reading others that just worsens things.

I’m with jandupamu – no matter what elements I add/remove to the HEADER, the ‘logo’ images I’m uploading behave unpredictably. ie: regardless or ratio/dimensions, images appear differently/warped/stretched etc.

do you guys have the definite answer for us? This is one part of the theme build that really needs some work. Otherwise I'm mostly *loving* this theme!my site using Pinboard: http://www.scribblegraph.me

kandrsonParticipantOH! Oh wow. You’re the Scribblegraph artist! You’re so talented. Did you ever get your site looking the way you want it? I see you have a header but it kind of looks like the default size? I barely know what I’m doing but I’ll try to help you as best I can, haha.
AshlanParticipant@Kandrson Β· what the what? You know me? π
No, I’d given up on that for now, hoping to hear back from the theme devs. I’m using the default 760px width, and cannot get reliable results no matter what I try, which is just illogical. Sometimes they fill the width and bump the G+/search buttons, sometimes they shrink… there was shrinkage!
Thanks for any help you can give:)
mizantropParticipantYou have to deselect option for Retina Header Image under general in theme options. Hope this helps… π
leigeroParticipantI don’t have the retina header image option selected and I’m still getting the crazy image resizing and the massive chunk of white space between the image and the menu buttons (probably caused by the search bar I don’t want there)
kandrsonParticipantThis got rid of the white spaces for me: under appearance- edit CSS put this:
#site-title {
margin: 0;
line-height: 0;
}AshlanParticipantkandrsonParticipantI’m not sure about the sizing limitations for it. It just removes the default margins and moves the header image up and to the left. I use it for mine, but like jandupamu said before, I have a weird header size. I believe mine is around 850 x 285. They talk about some other possible fixes in this thread: http://www.onedesigns.com/support/topic/customize-your-header-tutorial-and-question
But again, they were having mixed results.
AshlanParticipant@kandrson Β· thanks yes, I had seen that thread; the solutions there aren’t 100% yet either. I’m still working on it:)
What I’d love is to see the devs working on this; obviously there’s a lot of Pinboard users in the community struggling with this element of the theme.
I’ve used quite a few WP themes, and so many of them use this HEADER image perfectly. I’m not sure what the issues are with Pinboard, but It’s a little out of my ability to examine all the possible elements that go in this area and see the potential issues with just having a HEADER image fill the ‘box’.
AlexanderParticipantHi Guys,
Because I wrote some tutorials for this theme, many of you wrote me personal mails and mentioned it in some threads here, asking wtf happend to my blog? Yes, my site was in maintenance mode for some time now. And that’s for many good reasons. The most important one is that I moved on to another theme and that a transition take some time which I actually don’t have as I travelled alot in the last weeks. Which is another reason btw… π
Still the blog is not fully operating, I removed the maintenance sign and opend the doors for you to access the tutorials.
