I like your Cover theme very much, but would like more control over categories shown on the front page – the top headline post is great, so is the bottom ” latest” column, but I’d like more control over what appears in the middle two columns.
This would make a good theme great for me!

You can select any category to show up in the Featured section from Appearance > Theme Options.
As for the Popular section, I limited it to the most commented posts for now, I’m thinking of expanding it as I got some requests.

I suppose the problem is that, as its a new site, I’m not yet getting comments. How would I change it to a category?
Well, when you’re not getting any comments it shows some random posts.

I’d like to change the popular to a category – is it still possible to do that?
Daniel not that I see – I was interested in changing the popular category to one of my categories. The only choices in theme options is to change the popular to either most commented or most viewed.
OK I was just wondering because of what I had read above – I’m still pretty new and am not popular yet 🙂 thanks
The featured section allows the author to specify a category to be displayed. The popular section is intended to showcase posts that interest readers so it’s limited to either most commented or most viewed. This theme is limited to this functionality, that’s one of the reasons it got discontinued, it had limitations like this and users were not happy with them. If you want to use this theme you’re stuck with these options.
