Hi,
First, thanks for the awesome free theme! I discovered it today and I’m still figuring it out at the moment.
I am trying to set up the slider from the example page. But I can’t get it to work.
Is there a step by step documentation available to get it working? I already found some steps by robhob but it won’t work for me. The slider won’t display on my site: joelnahuis.nlSo far, I made two pages with a title, featured image and a bit of text in the content. Made a sidebar and added it in a custom query widget. Then I unticked Use “default sidebar locations for page” and selected my sidebar next to ‘Fullscreen’. What am I doing wrong?
All the tips and clues are welcome!
Thanks in advance.robhob’s steps (did not work for me):
Just managed to figure the slider out (well at least I think I have).
Here’s my quick guide:
1. Create a page for each slide, setting the Featured Image of each page to the required image.
2. If you want text over the image like the demo, create it in the body of each slide page. It looks like it’ll overlay whatever you do here over the slide.
3. Add a Dynamic Sidebar (Theme Options >> Sidebars tab). I called mine Slider and set the column count to 1. You don’t need to change Sidebar Locations. If you go to Widgets (Appearance >> Widgets) you’ll see you’ve create a new sidebar.
4. Go to widgets (Appearance >> Widgets) and drag a Custom Query widget into the new sidebar you’ve just created.
5. In this Custom Query, set the Type to Slider and the Query to Multiple Pages and then select the pages you created in step one. Save.
6. With your home page open in the editor, scroll to the bottom and untick Use default sidebar locations for page and choose your new sidebar from the dropdown next to Full Screen. If I understand things correctly, that’s how to get the slider going. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
JoelNParticipantHi,
I found the deconstruction documentation here and did as instructed to recreate the slider. The slider does not show up and I am not shure if I have set up the sidebar locations the right way. I do see some text however but it is only a part of the text I wrote to display in the header.
All the sidebar locations (except for primary, secondary, navbar and the loop as instructed) are setup as ‘Sidebar’. Is this the right location? The template I edited is ‘404’. Screenshot: http://imghst.co/56/wp.PNG
Did I make a mistake with that?
I appreciate the help!
JoëluweParticipantHi Noel,
just a short hint because I had the same issues firstly. It’s important to go through the https://www.onedesigns.com/tutorials/enlightenment-documentation-theme-demo-home-page literally step by step, especially the parts “Creating Dynamic Sidebars”, “Assigning Dynamic Sidebars to Sidebar Locations” and “Generating the Full Screen Slider”.
Maybe it helps you to start from the beginnign completely. Good luck!

JoelNParticipantThanks for the reply Uwe.
I already found the documentation with instructions on how to add the slider but the instructions do not give info on how to set up the locations of these sidebars. Yes, it says that the sidebars do not have to be assigned to a location as they are going to be used for the homepage but the menu (beneath the screenshotted zone) still lets me choose a template to edit.
The locations are now set up to [none] and the template dropdown menu says ‘404’.
The header is now shown on every page but the homepage. And home is the page I want it to be displayed and not on the other pages.

uweParticipantHi Joël,
you’ve created the dynamic sidebars like mentioned and named them as shown in the in the documentation, right? Now it should look exactly like on the screenshot.
Then you unchecked “Use default sidebar locations for page”? In the next step you go to “pages” > “sidebars” and change the sidebars in the drop down menus right hand (excepting Primary Sidebar, Secondary and Navbar) depending on your architecture (maybe that’s the point):
Full Screen: None > Home Full Screen
Header Sidebar: None > Home Header Sidebar
…
Secondary Footer Sidebar: None > Home Secondary Footer SidebarI have seen that you’ve created content pages and the featured images and published them.
The following steps should be clear and you should see the created slider content pages under “Select Pages” and then appear on your homepage and not only on the other ones – hopefully ;o)
Best regards to the NL,
UweJoelNParticipantThank you for your time and the reply Uwe, I appreciate it.
I checked the instructions again and again. The sidebar settings in the editor of the homepage are like this: http://imghst.co/54/1_sidebar_setting_on_homepage.PNG
The settings in Appearance/Theme editor/ Sidebars are the same and…
..the custom queries do show up! (:A mistake must have slipped through somewhere. The custom queries do show up on the right pages now (:
Although editing a ‘404’ template that affects my homepage is a bit confusing but it works (screenshot).Joël

Daniel TaraKeymasterEditing the 404 template did nothing to your homepage. What you did is edit both the homepage inside the page builder and the 404 template. If you want to see add a
?p=9999
at the end of your home page so you trigger a 404 error.uweParticipantHi Joël,
just another idea: check under “Dashboard” > “Appearance” > “Customize” > “Static Front Page” > “Front Page Displays” > select “A Static Page” > “Front Page” > from the dropdown menu select “Home” and > “Post Page” select “Blog”
Another option to clear that might be “Setting the Static Front Page” at the end of this documentation.
In case of failing any longer I would recommend to ask Daniel to get the solution. Good luck!
