different number of post in home page

    Hello,
    is it possible to set a different number of posts in home page and in a category page?
    In home page I have 1 full width post and below other 6 with featured image, so in wp ‘settings’ -> ‘reading’ I’ve entered 7 (1+6) as ‘blog pages show at most […] post’. But now I have 7 posts per page even in category page, where I’de like to show more post. Is it possible?

    I have repeatedly tried to break down post pagination like this with results similar to yours. The way WordPress handles its pagination just doesn’t allow to display a custom number of posts on the front page different than on other pages.
