    I thought I saw an area in the pinboard theme where I could upload my favicon and now I can’t seem to find that. Did I imagine that?

    There is no favicon functionality, neither will it be, such functionality should be handled by plugins. Try searching for a plugin that has such an option, there should be quite a couple simple ones.
