Hello – I have the problem that the featured image is resized to 700×300. If the blog is displayed at it’s full width, the featured image ends up being stretched to larger than 700px wide, and the quality suffers. How can I force the internal featured image size to be larger? When I set the featured image for a post, there are no sizing options available, as is the case when inserting an image into a post.

My problem is similar to yours I think…when looking at my main page, all the featured images look slightly blurred, like the resolution is smaller but enlarged. When you click the photo and look at it on its own or on the post page it’s the correct resolution. Somewhat irksome because you want your landing page to look sharp. πŸ™ Any thoughts to why this happened?

There should be no images larger than 700px even in the full width template, can you please post a link to your websites?

Thanks for looking into this! On my blog, the first post of the bike links to an image which I sized to be a sticky post and appear in the header slideshow. The actual image is wider than what is displayed in the blog, 1139×395.

In the second blog post, with the blue t-shirt which was not meant to be sticky, the feature image links to a file that is 700×300. On Safari when the browser window is opened to the screen width, the displayed image size is larger than 700×300, so the image is stretched and sometimes seems to be of low quality. I found that if I took care to upload source files with very low compression, the problem was less noticeable, which was my workaround.

So I didn’t find a solution, I thought maybe I could figure out how to change or why the image is 700×300. I guess it now seems that if I create feature images for every post, regardless of whether or not it is to be a sticky post, it will work, as in the case of the bike post.

You need to regenerate the image thumbnails. Use the plugin AJAX Thumbnails Rebuild for this.

I see you got it sorted? I have the same issue and the thumbnail rebuild didn’t change anything?!
