Home page – want banner under nav bar to stretch full width of nav bar

Ok, I was able to make something called a ‘post’ and ‘stick’ a ‘featured image’ to the ‘front page’. But when I click the Home button you don’t see this image and that’s the whole purpose of it, to be on the home page. Aren’t the home and front page the same?

Also now that I have this image inserted under the nav bar it repeats itself below this so- called ‘slider’ image with info on the left. I’d like to get rid of that.
