How to show Media and Photos in posts on the home page

I installed pinboard and had it to where the media in the actual post showed up on the home page, but now that I’m creating a site I cannot find that option anywhere. I have to set it as a ‘featured image’. How can I get a full post with multiple photos to show up on the home page? And thumbnails for the abbreviated post? Is there a theme option for this or is it something I have to change in the code?
