Image in sticky post not showing

Has anyone figured out how to get an image in a sticky post to show on the home page?

I don’t like using featured image for this because the featured image ends up taking the entire width of the column. I just want a half-column embedded image to show up but for some reason it won’t appear in the post on the home page, only when the user clicks on the title does it show.
