I’m having a strange issue when I create audio posts that I will provide pictures for. Since the issue is intermittent, I can’t figure out what makes the difference and how to fix it.
Sometimes when I make my posts that link from the sliding gallery front page to the actual post, as you know the featured image will insert itself at the top of the post. The image is cut off at the top and the bottom, so instead of showing the entire picture, it shows 600px by 230 px (for example, see this post http://bratcatrock.com/?p=525).
Other times, when I link to the actual post from the sliding gallery front page, the featured image is thumb nailed (for example, see this post http://bratcatrock.com/?p=315).
I would prefer all the images to be thumb nailed, so heads don’t get cut off, but I can’t figure out for the life of me what it is I’m doing or not doing that is making some images thumb nailed and others not thumb nailed. Any help here would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
bionicsammParticipantI’m guessing it’s a sizing issue. Under your control panel when you go to media, you would want to adjust your medium, large, thumbnail settings and then use a thumbnail generator plugin to re-make your thumbnails, clean your cache and re-load your page. It should be good to go from there.
One tip, make sure all your pics are re-sized to the same size or at the very least, the same ratio.
LifeInDminorParticipantOk, I went ahead and downloaded a thumbnail generator plugin after fixing my media page, which now looks like this http://dug.im/12b4e. All my images for the slider main page are all 600×400 so they fit in the slider, I edit them before putting them in my posts. I went ahead and cleared my cash and refreshed my posts after generating my thumbnails but no changes occurred.
By looking at the screenshot above, can you tell if I’m doing something wrong? Thanks for your help so far, I appreciate it.
bionicsammParticipantWell you want to keep your ratios (3:2) the same to avoid cropping. If your pics are all horizontal and you want them 600 x 400, then your thumbs are good at 150 x 100 but your mediums should be 450 x 300 (3X150 and 2X150) or 300 x 200 (3×100 and 2×100). You could adjust that, regenerate, cache clean and look again π
And uncheck the crop thumbnails π
LifeInDminorParticipantThanks for explaining the ratios to me! I didn’t understand that was how they worked, it’s good to know this. I went ahead and changed my mediums to 450 x 300 so everything was 3:2. As suggested I regenerated my thumbnails, cleared my cache again, unchecked the crop thumbnails and refreshed the posts/page. Unfortunately nothing has changed. I’m thinking that I might just be S.O.L. here.
Could it be in the code itself? I don’t know anything about CSS to be honest, so I just don’t know where to look. The only place I thought to check was the overflow in the slider itself, but that wasn’t it so I stopped playing with things before I horribly broke something.
I still appreciate your help. If you happen to think of anything else, I’m all ears.

LifeInDminorParticipantOh, I did just think of this and now I’m wondering, is it possible to remove the featured image from the post itself, so that it continues to post in the slider on the front page, but doesn’t auto-insert itself into the post? If this is possible, then I could just add my own image to the post myself that is a size I prefer and skip this whole mess of it not using a smaller thumbnail.
Thank you again.
bionicsammParticipantOk, I went to look at all the posts you have under music and the only one that’s too small is the Ripple one. So either this pic isn’t the size it should be or when you wrote the post you checked “standard” or something else in your wordpress dashboard instead of “image”. My guess is the Ripple picture itself.
