Pinboard and featured content

I submitted the question below on the wordpress themes forum. I think that I probably should have asked it here.

I am a rookie when working with web pages and blogging. I like the look of pinboard. The one item that I can’t see how to do automatically is what some themes call “featured content”. What I really want is one row of images between my main slider and my posts on my home page. One image might be a map widget or link, one would go to a different page or category etc. I don’t see how to enable this between the feature slider and my posts. I am currently using this feature with a different theme that I want to replace with pinboard. The site is http://www.roadsaway.com.

Is this easily (important) possible with pinboard?
