I use the grid-layout and sometimes the three points are not displayed after the excerpts. 🙁
What can be the reason?Thank you for your help!
BillieThe most probable reason is the post contains less then 55 words so the entire content is displayed instead of the excerpt.

no, this is not the case. The posts are much longer. The excerpt stops in mid-sentence.

BillieOkay, I have found the cause.
The excerpt ends always with the 3rd row. The 3 “read-more-dots” are always displayed after 22 words. If the text includes some long words, it does not end with 22 words but the 3. row is full of 20 words, for example. In that case, the 3 “read-more-dots” are not shown.What can I do so I always get displayed this 3-dots?

This doesn’t exactly fix the problem, but I hope it helps. Try using a manual excerpt to describe your post. Some of mine on http://mouthybroadcast.com/ have a manual excerpt (“We Like Stuff”) but most don’t, so I’ll probably go back and fill that in.To enter a manual excerpt, edit the post, and the excerpt box will be near the bottom of the Edit Post page. It may not be enabled by default, so go to Screen Options at the top and be sure “Excerpt” is checked.

I still have trouble with this problem.
I think, that the problem would be solved if instead of words the characters would be counted – with spaces. How Can I change, maybe? In the functions.php?

I don’t want to show full posts instead of excerpts! I want to show the excerpts, but solve the problem that sometimes the “three points” are missing.I think, the problem would be solved if instead of 55 words the characters, for example 300 charakters, would be counted. But I do not know where and how I could change that.
I have found the solution for me with the WordPress plugin “advanced excerpt”.
