Using categories in primary menu

I am using a posts page for my home page. Each post has its own category so each post effectively behaves like a page.

I have created a custom primary menu that lists the categories, but when I click on a category in the menu, instead of going to the post itself, it shows only the featured image which I then have to click to get to the post.

I would like the menu item to go directly to the post. Is there any way to do that?
