Video plugin that just works

I’m looking for a video/image plugin that just works. I would like for it display a thumbnail that when clicked, uses a lightbox type popout that will show the video/image at full size. I’m not a coder. I don’t see blonde, brunette, red head. I just see green squiggly stuff running down the screen (Matrix reference). I’d like it if the plugin can generate the thumb automatically, but I’m ok with making my own (I am a graphics/Photoshop person). I have yet to find one that doesn’t require extensive messing around with to get working (most don’t have directions on how to use them), so I haven’t even gotten one to work, yet. I understand that most plugins are free and I can’t really expect a lot of help from the developer who’s working his day job, but it seems to me that this isn’t rocket science (to those that love in the developer world) and I’d just like a plugin that I can just “plug in”.
