"Wide" Widget area

Hi,

I have a slideshow widget in the “Wide” widget area. I also have an image link below the slideshow in the same widget area.

Looks great when full screen but when I view it on a mobile device or tablet it scales down ( great ) but puts a large gap between the two.

Can anyone here explain why the extra space is added? Is there anything I can do to reduce this space?

(I have used this option instead of the built in slideshow that comes with the theme because I don’t want to have to make a post to get an image in to the slider }
