hey daniel,
just started using your theme, and its awesome. However, I am trying to embed youtube video and its just showing up as a link.
Here’s the site. http://www.gurrinder.com/?p=80
By default the link should be picked up as a youtube video as teh post format is video, however I also tried the add video and add media options with this url and they dint work either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Daniel TaraKeymasterIt’s working for me. Possibly oembed was down when you were trying to publish it.
vitorParticipantHi, can you tell me where you input the embed code for your Youtube videos? I placed them on the body of the post and I just get it displayed as a text.
Thank you.
Daniel TaraKeymasterYou should paste the URL of the videos in the editor. I have looked again at your page and can see two embedded videos.
vitorParticipantDaniel,
Thank you for your answer but the only way I could make it work was because I’m using WP Video plugin.
I still have no idea where is the editor you are talking about. I tried to use the actual URL from the Vimeo video in the media uploader but it doesn’t work. My videos are too big and the media uploader doesn’t accept them to generate the correct URL. That’s why I have to use the embed code.
Can you tell me where exactly I need to go (step by step) to place the embed code without needing to use the plugin?
I don’t know much about all this … still learning.
Thank you again.
Daniel TaraKeymasterThe editor is TinyMCE, the WYSIWYG editor that comes with WordPress, the one you see when editing a post. Normally when you paste the URL to a YouTube video there it should automatically be transformed into an embed.
austintxousParticipantYou’re much better off using a plugin, as the plugin will take care of formatting the tag for you, which is the trickiest part. I’ve gotten youtube videos to work by using the Stream Video Player (by Rodigo Polo) There in an extra step you have to go through to add metadata to the video before it will work. But, if you just follow his directions, it works. The only thing that was unclear was that, when it comes time to type in the URL for the youtube video, only put in the humber of the video –what comes after the last slash. For example, youtube’s embed code looks like this: http://youtu.be/EyXm0HmE3UI The only part of it you want is EyXm0HmE3UI .
Good luck.
