Daniel – I’ve been receiving great feedback from visitors to my site, which uses your Pinboard theme. I’m an author – is there a chance I could install an Amazon social media link to my header at http://www.ericlowitt.com?

Thanks in advance for your response,
    Eric

You’ll need to do it by hand. Check the sidebar-header.php and see how it’s done there.

Thanks Daniel. Almost there. The link is live in my header, but I need to upload an icon to associate with the link. To which file (could you include the path?) do I upload the icon I want to use?

    e.g.:
    …/html/wp-content/themes/pinboard/includes/theme-options.php:3

You need to put it in the images foder and set it as background image in style.css. Look at how it’s done for the other icons.

99 percent there. The icon now appears – just need to style so it looks like the others. I’ve verbatim copied code for the other icons in style.css. Just can’t make it round or transparent yet.

You’ve been a big help – thank you!

Figured out the problem. There are two logo files to be uploaded. Both are circular. One is gray and white and the other is color. Is there a site you trust where I can find these two logo files?

I made them by hand. Here’s a nice icon you can use.

The way I did it was by shrinking the icon to 24 px and making a circle around it that makes 32 px in diameter with the base color of the logo. Then I made the logo transparent and that’s the icon hovered. Then I duplicated this image, applied black color overlay on it and changed the opacity to 10%. That’s the icon you see by default. The easiest way would be to place both in the same image one on top of the other. See e.g. facebook.png how it’s done.

One final question – what editing s/w do you recommend?
