Disabling comments – and pull down menus

    I checked the FAQ and didn’t see either of these addressed.
    I tried the traditional way of disabling comments and it didn’t seem to work.

    Also – I would really love to have some pull down, or in this site’s case, pull up menus.

    For the comments, try the Disable Comments plugin:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disable-comments/

    Of course, what is under the slider is a menu; but if you are talking about something more traditional you will need to get creative with coding, both to hide or move the existing menu, or to create or place a new menu somewhere else. I initialized a widget area (sidebar) just below the header, and placed a menu widget in it.
