    Daniel, Alex, et al.

First of all, thank you for a beautiful, free WordPress theme. I’m impressed, and thankful. I’m under the impression that I can exclude my “slider posts” by dumping them into an unused porfolio. I’ve followed Alex’s “stash away slider posts” tutorial to the letter, but the posts still appear in my blog. To confirm, “WP Hide Post” plugin is activated, assigned posts to the portfolio category, marked as invisible, and excluded portfolio posts from the theme options page. Still, they appear in the blog posts section. Here are working links to the pages in question:

    http://danduett.com/portfolio
    http://danduett.com/blog

This is my first foray into WP and have enjoyed learning by trial and error, but I’m stumped. I’ve looked through the entire topic library in search of an answer. Any ideas?

I have found one peculiar, sub-par workaround. If I go into Settings/Reading and change Static Page/Posts Page to “Blog” (keeping Front Page as “Home”), it hides the slider posts but breaks the full width and adds a duplicate slider to the blogs page, which I don’t want.

Thanks for your time and for a great theme!

    Dan

    Hi DanimalXC,

Try to go to “Appearance/Theme Options” and scroll down to the section “Portfolio Page”. In the dropdown select the category that you created for your slider post (e.g. “slider posts”).

    Cheers,

Thanks for the suggestion, Alex, but I’ve already made those changes to Theme Options. To confirm, I have created a slider category, added each relevant post to that category, and seclected the following on theme options: “display a slider of sticky posts,” “exclude portfolio category from main loop,” and selected “Slider” as portfolio category from the drop-down. Still, no luck.

The slider and landing page are behaving perfectly as far as I can tell. It’s the *slider posts* that are causing trouble. The same posts appear on both my blog and my portfolio. See below:

Alex, I’ve followed the instructions on your tutorial exactly, but I don’t get the same results. To be clear, I do not want portfolio posts appearing in my blog. Am I correct in thinking that this can be done using WP 3.5 and Daniel’s Pinboard theme?

has anyone managed to get this working and hide the sticky posts from the main blog however have them posted in the portfolio?

I have added my sticky posts to a category, then under the template options selected the category under “Portfolio Category” and selected “Exclude Portfolio Category from main loop” however the posts still show up in the blog?

Alex, can you think of any reason why my slider posts would still display in the blog if I followed your tutorial directions exactly? I’m not running any plugins that should be causing a problem. I’ve checked your tutorial to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Other people seem to be having the same problem.

Thanks again for your attention to this question–I know I’m not the first person who has asked about this.
