I love your site layout! How did you get the image thumbnails to display like that on each page?

Kendra–I was just explaining the site setup to a member named Jeremiah. Here’s what I told him:

My home page is just four posts. I wanted the “Latest” category to show up first (on the left side of the slider), so I posted that post last. I had all of the photos organized in folders so that I could upload them easily when I posted. I didn’t worry about the order that the photos appeared.

So, the workflow for each post went like this: first, set up four categories (any order). Then go to Posts>Add New. Give the new post a title (I matched the categories), then for the post’s format choose “Gallery,” pick the correct category from list, and finally click “Set featured image.” When the box pops up, select “files from folder,” upload images, rename them, etc., then pick the one that you want to appear in the slider and set it as the featured image. Repeat with the other three categories.

I also set up a menu. “Home” is a custom link (set up on the menu panel) which connects to the main slider’s URL. “Blog” is also a custom link, set up the same way, which points to a sub-domain’s URL. I set up the default WordPress theme on the sub-domain and use it like a traditional blog. “About,” “Services,” and “Links” are all just regular pages.

Wow that is a lot easier than I thought. Thanks for sharing!

OK, I feel like my photography portfolio is finally finished. Added a link to my PhotoHow2 website, filled out my slider categories and slideshow thumbs, and created a linked blog. Even started a mailing list. As far as photography portfolio platforms go, I think Minimatica works really well, and I’ve had nothing but great feedback (if you visit the site and find a problem, I’d love to hear about it). Thanks again to Daniel and all the forum contributors–I like the support Minimatica brings and dig this theme.
