Lightbox Feature Failing

    Hi,

Has anyone else experienced the lightbox feature failing?

Since I implemented Pinboard in October, it worked fine and suddenly now I am finding that instead of the following working, the “link to media file” is linking DIRECTLY to the upload directory image (and people are pinning it to Pinterest) (which is driving me crazy since it should link to the post as it once was)

I don’t know what has changed but I am noticing that when I post a new post and insert a gallery, that even though the gallery setting is set to media file and not attachment, I have to go in and set it to attachment, save it, go back in and set it to media file and save it again! This is happening on older posts (that worked fine before) (and of which I now have MANY – and new visitors are accessing the upload directory!)

First of all I don’t know what to do about this and second – I don’t know why this is happening SUDDENLY?

PLEASE HELP – as soon as possible-

Same problem here. The first post I made like several weeks ago, it worked, and the latter ones it failed to open in lightbox. But I did the same as you, changed all posts back and forward from “open in lightbox” -> “link to media file” -> “open in lightbox” and it works. Hard though if you have many posts…

    Hi Anna,

I do have many posts and doing the ‘redo’ as you described isn’t a cure. It goes back and forth from working to not working anyway.

The kind of bad thing is, if you set it to attachment instead of media – visitors don’t realize that all of the thumbnails are only going to pin thumbnails, unless they actually GO to each attachment …. as a webmaster, I preferred them not having to leave the page to pin the original sized images…. (I believe less steps are better – more user friendly)

So even if I went back into 100s of posts and changed it – it isn’t an optimal choice. πŸ™

Just drives me bananas when something that WAS working, suddenly stops working. I was flowing along and now suddenly a ton of images are getting linked to – instead of the posts.

    Hi bcr8tive,

Can you please be a little more descriptive instead of prosaic? What exactly isn’t working? And do you have a living example?

    Cheers,

Pardon you Alexander but I’ve been quite clear in my explanations. Anna seemed to understand me just fine so perhaps you have an issue with comprehending the aforementioned posts.

I explained what isn’t working and if it keeps happening then stopping then happening again then it’s quite difficult to provide a demonstration don’t you think?

@ Alexander: If I get it right here, the links on bcr8tive’s website sometimes goes to the picture in lightbox and sometimes links to media file. Everything was correct a while ago, but now old posts behave strange/inconsistently (sometimes it’s like it should be, next time it opens in a media file) and he/she can’t figure out what’s wrong, since he/she hasn’t changed anything.

I though have a bug on my own webpage (that someone notified me about in another thread) that if you open a picture too fast after it’s loaded, it opens as media file instead of lightbox. Only happens maybe the first second from when you load the website. But I guess this might not be the case here.

    @anna s,

Yes, the lightbox, like many other viewers, need to preload the picture before it can be displayed with the seetings one have choosen. Therefore there can be a delay before the viewer kicks in.

    Cheers,
