I configured my front page really nicely with widgets and now some are not showing up. In Appearance -> Widgets all the widgets are listed and my customizations appear to be intact in the settings there, however when I go to Appearance -> Customize -> Widgets, only a small subset appear (Sidebar, Navbar, Credibility Footer, Home Footer, Home Footer Secondary)… and lo and behold, these are the only widgets that are still functional. Settings On configured in Home After Main, for example, no longer appear on the front page.
The only signification change that has occurred recently on the system is that civicrm was installed, but I don’t see why this would affect this feature.
Any ideas about what might have gotten scrogged and how i might fix it?
You help much appreciated…Daniel TaraKeymaster
Did you hit the reset button on the sidebars settings page by accident? Am I understanding correctly that you see different widgets under Appearance > Widgets than in Customizer > Widgets? If so, then this sounds like a WordPress core bug to me. Try disabling all your widgets and see if the issue still persists.
No, I didn’t hit the reset button.
Yes, you did understand me correctly… all the Widgets and settings appear as normal in Appearance -> Widgets but most of the widgets are now missing from Customize -> Widgets. Only a few Widgets appear in Customizer.. (Sidebar, Navbar, Home Footer, Home Footer, Home Footer Secondary) and these are the ones that are still functional on the website.
I deactivated all plugins and reactivated them and this did not help. Refreshing cache didn’t help either.
When I activated another theme and went to Customizer, most of the widgets were still missing.. indicating that this is likely not a problem with Enlightenment, as you suspect.
If you have any other ideas, i would most appreciate it – getting desperate here!
I take that back.. this does seem Enlightenment related because all of the Widgets that are nonfunctional and stopped showing up in Customizer are Enlightenment widgets… I confirmed this when I deactivated all plugins and changed themes and saw that the bulk of the Widgets I usually see are missing from Appearance -> Widgets.Daniel TaraKeymaster
Your wording is very confusing. What do you mean by “Enlightenment widgets”? Are you referring to the Custom Query Widget? There’s no other widget that Enlightenment registers.
Sorry for the confusion – i am using terminology wrong. I believe it is “sidebars” I should have been referring to instead of widgets.
I just found the problem. For some reason on the front page the settings I had in the “Sidebars” settings at the bottom of the front page Edit page were reset and all were selected as “[None]”. WHen I reselected the sidebars I had created in Appearance -> Widgets in the Sidebars settings on the front page, my features returned!
Thanks for your help and patience.
